The Wisconsin Mathematics Council is excited to bring the 2018 MPES Conference to the Wisconsin Dells.
October 17 & 18, 2018 - 2-day conference
Day 1: Going deep in mathematics allows for different perspectives of mathematical ideas. Through the perspectives comes an increase in conceptual understanding followed by procedural learning in mathematics. Teaching the depth of the content also builds a more positive student identity in mathematics. Understanding the how’s and the why’s will better support learning as students move through the grades in school.
Day 2: Providing positive mathematical experiences affirms students’ identities as doers of mathematics and problem solvers. How do we build positive experiences for students in math class? In turn, students will be determined and persistent mathematical thinkers. What other characteristics will these students gain from these experiences? How does confidence in mathematics support learning in other content areas?
Breakout sessions for each grade level!
