CANCELLED August 17, 2010 - Tomorrow River School District (Amherst) The Day Math and Reading Got Hitched! This workshop will help you get more out of your teaching minutes as you link mathematics, reading and writing. Strategies will be shared to help you use your class time even more efficiently by showing you how reading and mathematics share the same toolbox. Come and experience a wide variety of activities, games and literature resources that you can use right away in your classroom this fall. Advanced Placement Summer Institute 2010 The University of Wisconsin-Madison, in cooperation with the College Board, is offering its annual AP Summer Institute that provides advanced training for high school teachers in the latest trends and learning strategies to help high school students excel academically and succeed in college. WMC Listservs The Wisconsin Mathematics Council is pleased to bring you a great new opportunity for professional development – the WMC Listservs. At this time, there are two that you can choose from – the WMC Elementary Listserv and the Algebra Listserv – with a hope of adding more in the future! Wisconsin Mathematics Council’s Elementary Listserv The Wisconsin Mathematics Council’s Elementary Listserv is designed to be a place for elementary teachers to communicate about the mathematics that is happening in the classroom, as well as share assessment and teaching ideas. It can also be the place to pose any questions you have. The listserv will be facilitated by teachers who are in the classroom, just like you. E-Workshops NEW! – The WMC Professional Development Committee is now offering E-Workshops*, one hour training sessions that take place in an online environment using Elluminate software. Participants are able to see a presentation about a topic and can ask questions audibly or via chat. *Equipment Requirements Requirements needed to participate in an E-Workshop are to have a computer connected to the internet, a headset microphone, and a recent version of Java. For detailed system requirements: PC, Mac, and Linux compatible; contact the WMC office at: #262-437-0174. No e-workshops are currently being offered. How to Register Registration fees are $10 for WMC members and $25 for non-members. E-Workshops are limited to the first 25 people who sign up and must have at least 10 participants to be held. The deadline for registering is 4:30 pm on the date exactly one week prior to the e-workshop.
